The Stock Exchange Ski Club was founded in 1968 by four friends who loved skiing – two brokers and two jobbers (market makers) who worked on the trading floor of the London Stock Exchange. The club’s first drinks party was held in the Jamaica Inn in 1968. In 1969, 12 club members went on the first annual ski trip, to Aviemore.
In 1969, the club received a letter inviting them to send a team to the European Bourses Ski Competition in Val d’Isère. The club sent a team and supporters to that event in 1970, and have attended the competition, which later became Interbourse, ever since.
Over the years the club has grown in diversity and size and now includes members from all areas of the financial securities industry, who are passionate about skiing, snowboarding and winter sports.
The Stock Exchange Ski Club has proudly supported a number of skiing charities over the years, including Disability Snowsport UK and Snow Camp. We have also provided funding to GB Snowsport.
